Delete your account

At a glance

You can delete your BlinkPop account, and the data that goes with it, at any time. There are two ways:

In the app: Settings → Delete account.
By email: write to jinxuetan@gmail.com from the address you signed up with.

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

Delete it in the app

Open BlinkPop, go to your own profile (the last icon in the bottom bar), and tap the gear at the top right.
In Settings, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
Type DELETE to confirm.

Your account is deleted straight away.

Ask us to delete it

If you cannot get into your account, or no longer have the app, email jinxuetan@gmail.com from the address you signed up with and ask us to delete your account. We will do it for you and confirm when it is done, within 30 days.

What is removed

Your account, profile, username and any host profile you created
Pops you created, and their chats, members and invitations
Your messages, chat memberships and blocks. One exception: a message of yours that someone reported is kept with that report
Your follows, in both directions
Your posts and your check-in and visit records
The images you uploaded, deleted from our storage within 2 days. One exception: an image in a message of yours that someone reported is kept with that report
Your push tokens and your sign-in credentials

What is kept

Reports that other people filed about you are kept as a moderation record, so that deleting and re-registering is not a way to wipe the slate. Our record of any action we took on your account, a Pop or a post is kept for the same reason: what was done, when, and which member of BlinkPop staff did it. Invitation links you sent stay valid but are unlinked from you.

We also keep a short record that your account was deleted, for security, audit and support: the email address you signed in with, how you signed in, when you signed up, last used BlinkPop and deleted your account, and how many Pops you created and joined. We erase the email address automatically 90 days after deletion; the rest of the record is kept without it. It cannot be used to restore your account. The Privacy Policy explains why (section 9).

Usage analytics and crash reports the app has already sent, and our hosting provider’s standard request logs, are not removed when you delete your account.
